Brief Summary of Job Duties:

Applies skills as an experienced data management professional with full understanding of industry practices and campus and department methodologies, policies and procedures to resolve complex and wide-ranging issues where analyses of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Demonstrates competency in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions. Responsible for the planning, coordination, technology leadership and management of data analytics and business intelligence solutions. Supports users in their effort to analyze data, provides training to developers and users on Business Intelligence tools and data, and works with functional departments to analyze their Business Intelligence needs and implement solutions.

Required Qualifications:
  • 1-3 years of experience developing data models, reports and dashboards with Oracle Fusion Analytics and the Fusion Autonomous Warehouse.
  • 1-3 years of knowledge and experience implementing data warehousing principles and design concepts and developing dimensional data models.
  • 1-3 years of experience analyzing business processes and information systems and creating specifications for business intelligence solutions.
  • 1-3 years of experience with software development in SQL Server or Oracle database environments.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in programming and business analysis or equivalent experience and/or training.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1-3 years of experience designing and developing data pipeline solutions using continuous development and continuous integration best practices.
  • 1-3 years of experience designing and developing data warehouse solutions with Snowflake or comparable cloud data platforms.
  • 1-3 years of knowledge of Oracle Financial Cloud data structures.

Job Functions and Percentages of Time:
45% Business Intelligence Development
  • Works with business and technical staff to analyze and provide Business Intelligence solutions to meet operational and decision-making needs.
  • Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes information from subject matter experts and technical personnel.
  • Uses established data platforms and business intelligence tools to develop reporting solutions.
  • Coordinates with data engineers in the design and development of data models to support reporting implementations.
  • Creates and maintains data definitions.
  • Provides knowledge sharing and training of data concepts, business intelligence tools, processes, and standards.
  • Provides oversight and support to BI developers across campus with development and deployment standards and security implementations.

30% Data Systems Development and Data Integration
  • Applies professional and broadly defined business analysis and data administration and data use concepts to manage and perform complex assignments.
  • Independently analyzes complex information requirements and documents them using formal data definition techniques and naming standards.
  • Implements related business processes, develops logical data models, dimensional data models and schemas for the scope of a project or a component of a project.
  • Develops data mapping specifications and data transformation pipelines using continuous development and continuous integration best practices.
  • Develops solutions to design and monitor customer security permissions, performs audits and monitors usage.

20% Production Support
  • Supports users in their effort to analyze data.
  • Trains developers and functional experts on UCSB data and implemented business intelligence technologies and best practices.
  • Updates existing business intelligence solutions with required changes.
  • Troubleshoots report and data analytics issues.
  • Monitors reporting solutions and ensures data refresh consistency.
  • Ensures integrity and completeness of data and workflows.

5% Other
  • Completes mandatory UCSB training.
  • Keeps skills up to date with new relevant technologies.
  • Provides documentation in support of the maintainability and reusability of database objects and applications.
  • Other duties as assigned.
