Job Summary


The Department of Electrical, Computer & Energy Engineering is hiring an Assistant Teaching Professor. The responsibilities will include teaching five courses each academic year, as well as performing service to the department on committees and other activities such as student outreach and recruiting. This position is anticipated to be hired at the Assistant Teaching Professor rank; however, qualified candidates may be considered at the Associate Teaching Professor rank and the Teaching Professor rank. The successful candidate must have the ability to teach classes in the areas of Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, and VLSI.

The ECEE program consists of about 400 undergraduate and 480 graduate students and has averaged over $12 million in annual research grants. The department maintains close ties with local industry and national institutes/labs such as NIST, NREL, and NOAA.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • The typical distribution of work for this role is 80% teaching and 20% leadership and service.
  • This position will teach five courses each academic year.
  • This position will also perform service to the department on committees and other activities such as student outreach and recruiting.

  • The anticipated start date for this position is August 2025 although an alternative start date may be negotiated.
  • The selected candidate will be offered a multi-year contract which may be renewable; specific term length will vary based on start date.

What We Require


Assistant Teaching Professor Rank:
  • Candidate must have earned a doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science at the start of employment.

Or
  • A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science or a related filed and 5 years of teaching at a higher education level or working in a related field in industry.

Associate Teaching Professor Rank:
  • For a candidate to be considered for appointment to the Associate Teaching Professor rank, the applicant must meet the minimum requirements for Assistant Teaching Professor and have a minimum 6 years of teaching Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science at a higher education level at a 50% or greater percentage of time or 6 years of relevant industry experience and meet unit criteria at this level.

Teaching Professor Rank:
  • For a candidate to be considered for appointment to the Teaching Professor rank, the applicant must also have an additional 3 years (9 years total) of teaching at a higher education level or comparable industry experience in the fields of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, and the candidate must be able to demonstrate a "record of distinction" based on departmental and college criteria.
